1. Acceptance of these terms
By using this website, submitting a booking request, making a donation, contacting SAPREC, or using any online service offered through this website, you agree to these Terms & Conditions.
If you do not agree with these terms, please do not use the website or submit information through it. You may still contact SAPREC directly using the contact details below.
2. Who we are
SAPREC is the Southern African Foundation for the Conservation of Coastal Birds. SAPREC supports seabird rescue, rehabilitation, conservation education, visitor bookings, donations, reporting, and related administration.
3. Website use
You may use this website for lawful SAPREC-related purposes, including learning about SAPREC, contacting us, booking a visit, making a donation, and reading information about our work.
- You must not misuse the website, interfere with its security, attempt unauthorised access, submit false information, or use automated tools in a way that harms the website.
- You must provide accurate information when submitting bookings, donations, contact requests, or receipt details.
- You are responsible for checking that your contact details are correct before submitting a form.
- SAPREC may restrict, investigate, or block suspicious activity to protect the website, visitors, donors, and SAPREC systems.
4. Visits and bookings
Visit bookings are requests until SAPREC confirms or approves them. Booking availability may be limited by capacity, animal-care routines, cleaning, maintenance, weather, staffing, emergencies, conservation needs, or operational requirements.
- Visitors must choose an available date and time slot and submit the required booking details.
- SAPREC may approve, reject, reschedule, or cancel a booking where reasonably necessary.
- Visitors must arrive on time and follow SAPREC staff instructions at all times.
- Children must be supervised by a responsible adult.
- Entrance fees, where applicable, are displayed on the website and may be updated from time to time.
- Unless an online payment option is specifically provided for visits, visit fees are handled as communicated by SAPREC.
Animal welfare first:
SAPREC may adjust visitor access, times, capacity, or activity areas where this is needed to protect birds, staff, volunteers, visitors, or rehabilitation work.
5. Donations
Donations are voluntary contributions to support SAPREC's work. You may choose the donation amount, donation purpose, and available payment method shown on the website.
- A donation is only treated as paid once SAPREC receives successful payment confirmation from the payment provider or confirms the bank/EFT payment.
- Donation records may include the donation reference, amount, selected items or purpose, donor details, payment status, and reconciliation information.
- SAPREC may use donations for rescue, rehabilitation, conservation, operational, educational, and related SAPREC purposes unless a specific campaign or purpose is clearly stated.
- Where a campaign or item is fully funded, changed, delayed, or no longer needed, SAPREC may apply the donation to a similar SAPREC need unless otherwise required by law or agreed in writing.
6. Online payments and PayFast
SAPREC may use PayFast for online donation payments. When you choose to pay online, you may be redirected to PayFast to complete payment.
- SAPREC does not store your card number, banking password, CVV, or full payment instrument details on this website.
- PayFast may apply its own payment terms, security checks, privacy practices, and transaction rules.
- A payment may fail, be declined, be delayed, or be reversed by the payment provider or bank.
- SAPREC records payment references and payment notifications so donations can be reconciled and reported correctly.
7. Section 18A tax receipts
Where a Section 18A receipt is requested, SAPREC may need additional donor information so that the receipt can be prepared correctly. This may include address, contact number, identification or registration information, tax reference information, and other details required for the receipt.
- A Section 18A receipt can only be issued where legally applicable and where the required information has been supplied.
- You are responsible for providing accurate receipt information.
- SAPREC does not provide tax advice and does not guarantee that a donation will be deductible in your specific tax circumstances.
- You should keep your own donation and receipt records and seek professional advice where needed.
8. Cancellations, errors, and refunds
SAPREC will handle cancellation, duplicate-payment, incorrect-payment, booking, and donation queries fairly and case by case.
- If you believe a payment was duplicated or made in error, contact SAPREC as soon as possible with the payment reference and donor details.
- Donation refunds may require verification, payment-provider checks, banking checks, and administrative review.
- Booking changes or cancellations may depend on availability, notice given, SAPREC operations, and whether any payment was made.
- Nothing in these terms is intended to limit any rights you may have under applicable South African law.
9. Visitor safety and conduct
SAPREC is an animal-care and rehabilitation environment. Visitors must behave safely, respectfully, and in a way that does not disturb birds, staff, volunteers, other visitors, or SAPREC operations.
- Follow all instructions from SAPREC staff or authorised representatives.
- Do not enter restricted areas unless permitted.
- Do not touch, feed, disturb, chase, or handle birds or other animals unless expressly allowed by SAPREC staff.
- Children must remain supervised.
- SAPREC may refuse entry, end a visit, or ask a person to leave where safety, animal welfare, or conduct requires it.
10. Website content and accuracy
SAPREC aims to keep website information accurate and useful, but information may change. Visiting times, fees, donation campaigns, availability, operational details, and website features may be updated from time to time.
Website content is provided for general information and SAPREC operational purposes. It should not be treated as professional legal, tax, medical, veterinary, or financial advice.

To the extent allowed by law, SAPREC is not responsible for loss caused by website downtime, third-party service failures, incorrect information submitted by a user, unauthorised user activity, or events outside SAPREC's reasonable control.
14. Changes to these terms
